Leeds Beckett University has years of experience in managing mobility exchanges through the Erasmus programme. Leeds Beckett University was also involved in the AguaSociAL joint exchange programme aims to strengthen research cooperation and knowledge sharing between Brazil and Europe within the water related sciences.<\/span><\/p>

This project was sponsored under the Marie Curie International Research Staff Exchange Scheme (IRSES). In addition, LBU has experience in partnership programmes with African HEI in an effort to help capacity development and offer potential development solutions. For example, has development a partnership with the Malawi Polytechnic running to over 15 years. This has involved regular staff academic visits in both directions, joint research projects addressing issues of potable water, project monitoring and infrastructure reliability; and PhD study by a Malawi academic under the supervision of LMU. Leeds Beckett University also secured funding from the UK\u2019s Department for International Development (DfID) under the Development Partnerships in Higher Education programme (DelPHE) to develop a range of new postgraduate courses, focusing on sustainable engineering, in Africa in conjunction with the Universities of Malawi and Botswana. The focus of these courses is on sustainable engineering. In addition, Leeds Sustainability Institute, at LBU is a flagship centre for sustainability research which has over the years delivered a number of sustainability projects whose outcomes have influenced both government policy and industry practice. The mobility scheme will benefit from its association with LBU as it LBU will be able to provide advice on managing a sustainability research agenda.<\/p>

Standard package of services provided to scholarship holders.<\/h3>

International Office in each Institution <\/strong><\/p>

The international offices or equivalent at the host institutions will be fully involved in the management of and putting in place measures to ensure that incoming students and staff can obtain VISAs, any administrative support that they may require, provide all the travel information needed for the host country as well as being available to ensure smooth travel and arrival in the host’s country.<\/p>

Research centres <\/strong><\/p>

The ASIM Partners’ research centres will be involved in the administering of the project. The research centres are university-approved research structures, and so they will be used to support the mobility participants. The centres will help participants integrate and feel part of a community within the host institutions.<\/p>

Orientation Program for staff and students <\/strong><\/p>

All visiting students and staff should integrate with the host institutions’ colleagues to facilitate effective learning and exchange of ideas. Therefore, hosting Partners will arrange induction activities to the country, institution, and particular departments or research centres. There shall be an orientation for staff and students immediately after arriving and settling down on campus. This would help them settle in and have a good understanding of their host institution and nature\/structure of their programs.<\/p>

Provision for Housing, Orientation and Cultural Aspects <\/strong><\/p>

Each host institution will make arrangements and provide accommodation for both students and staff. There shall be an engagement of cultural activities at the inception of the program from each host institution to help bridge the culture shock. The students and staff on the mobility scheme shall also be introduced to the university management on arrival. Each University will place this team on their respective websites for adequate recognition<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
